2012 TripsReminder - You must be a WSSC or MDSC member to join trips.Payments must be made by cheque or money order in appropriate currencyFebruary Trip Director's Report The time we have been waiting for is here. We had a great weekend in Holiday Valley a few weekends ago, with lots of fresh snow arriving with our drive up there. Lift lines were small, condos were great and a few steps from the lifts, and a great time was had by all. Whistler is about a week away. Check in at Windsor is an hour before your flight. Departure is 5.55 am both days. I have a trip packet for every traveler that will be available at the next General Meeting February 2nd. Remember we are holding our monthly meeting a week earlier because most of us will be away. These trip packets will also be given out at the airport. YOU DO NOT NEED THESE TRIP PACKETS TO GET ON THE PLANE. YOU ONLY NEED YOUR ID. They will be given to each of you as you see us - (Dave Nantais for Saturday departures, Carl White for Sunday departures). They contain basic info which most of you already have. Don't forget the trip party on Tuesday the 7th at our Condo's meeting room at 7PM. Food and beverage will be provided. The Boyne Mountain weekend March 2-4th is still available for $215.00US, a great deal for Friday night until Sunday afternoon - skiing/riding and lodging in 6 person condos. Boyne is always a great weekend getaway. See Dave Nantais for Boyne info and to sign up. Mt. Bachelor, Oregon is April 1st to 8th, and a great deal under $1000.00US for 5 days of skiing and gorgeous lodging, flights and transfers. I have two full condos for that trip and would need a group of 4 more before I would accept anyone else, and even then, you're on your own for air travel. I now have 2 or 3 more interested. I can only offer the ground package now. That resort received over 7 feet of snow this week in a 3 day period. It's going to be great! Those of you who signed up, please bring your $350.00US. payment to the meeting. This is very close to the final payment - I do not know the exact amount yet, but it will be within a few dollars of this amount, and we will adjust exact price later. It's been my pleasure to work on all of your behalf this year to prepare your trips and schedules. Most of you I know are appreciative. The Board works very hard to make this a great experience for everyone. Next year I look forward to having some of you taking over some of our positions and trying to contribute to create a fun, vibrant and friendly club to travel with. We welcome new ideas and new energy. Don't feel that you're not qualified for these jobs, it's a learning experience and those of us who have gone through it are happy to help. We need you. Those of you who are going to Whistler may want to consider renting equipment from the company that has contacted me to offer us a group discount on either regular or high end demo equipment. Renting can be much more convenient than hauling your equipment around and you will always have the latest gear. I believe the extra baggage fee for ski/snowboard equipment for our flights is $25.00 each way. How Ski Butlers works with groups: All sizing info would be gathered prior to arrival via Ski Butlers group reservation system. Ski Butlers would meet renters in prearranged group area for fitting, ski/snowboard teching and signing of waivers (Afternoon or Evening before first ski day is preferred time). Just like any other rental for us, we are always available for support during the rental period, either on mountain or back at the hotel. Ski Butlers will pick all equipment up at the end of your stay from designated drop-off location. See the Whistler Ski Rental Packages link below for complete details. The flight info for Whistler is as follows: Group 1 travels Saturday, Group 2 on Sunday, times and flight numbers the same both days Flight and rooming information will be available at the Monthly meetings Depart Windsor Flight #AC7748, at 5:55AM - Arrive Toronto at 7:10AM, , Departs Toronto Flight #AC63 at 8:30AM - Arrive Vancouver at 10:34AM Return Flights, Vancouver Flight #AC116 Departs at 10:00AM - Arrive Toronto at 5:25PM Toronto Flight #AC7759 Departs at 6:15PM - Arrive Windsor at 7:22PM TRIPS Whistler - SOLD OUT. If you cannot attend the meeting, you can mail or drop off cheques or money orders for payments to me at my address: Carl White, 5381 Oldcastle Rd., Oldcastle, Ont, N0R1L0. Phone 519-737-6655. Please make all payments by the terms of any Payment Schedule on time. Cheques made out for all trips and activities should be made payable to the Windsor Ski Club. All participants must have valid Windsor Ski and Snowboard Club membership, and the waiver form included, and filled out entirely. This can be done at the meeting. All information about birthdates, e-mail address, etc, will be kept confidential. I expect all trip applicants to be up-to-date as well. Don't forget the trips to Holiday Valley, Boyne Mountain and Mt. Bachelor are to be paid in U.S. funds. Lastly, elections and nominations for the new Board of Directors will start in the next meeting and go for a few months until election night in April. There will be some openings in the board and new people are going to have to step up and volunteer some of their time for the benefit of the club and its members. Get involved, we need your help. Hope to see you at the February 2nd meeting at Lilly Kazzilly's. Sincerely, Carl White From Ted Illi: The Holiday Valley trip was as usual a great success. We had a great time and so did everyone else. The fresh snow made the skiing great and it gave us the chance to get a few runs under our belt before Whistler. On the lighter side. I got a couple of e-mails from my friend Pete in Whistler and he's telling me the skiing is fantastic. Their forecast is for good snowfalls in the next two weeks. He sent me this website which shows Whistler's snow depth compared to others. Copy and paste it in your address bar to view the website. http://www.whistler.com/weather/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Media+Rel
